The classroom problem
Listening accuracy and spelling are often taught separately, which means errors compound. Students who half-hear also half-spell, and traditional dictation practice is too slow to fix the pattern.
The response
Short timed rounds combine listening and transcription. Accuracy is scored in real time, streaks reward consistency, and a rebuilt real-time leaderboard turns careful listening into a competitive habit. A recent migration to Firestore with anonymous student sign-in keeps the leaderboard live and reliable while holding no student names, and a curriculum library lets teachers pick a ready-made list in seconds.
